Bayern Munich agree to sign Leroy Sane from Manchester City for £54.8m in a five-year deal

Bayern Munich have agreed to sign Leroy Sane from Manchester City for £54.8m in a five-year deal  The Bundesliga champions will pay an initial fee of £44.7m (€49m) for the 24-year-old German winger with  £10m (€11m) in add-ons which takes the deal to £54.8m. City have also included a 10 percent sell-on clause into the deal if the German club should they sell Sane in the future. Sane is expected to fly to Germany in the next 24 hours to complete a medical.  The deal comes after Manchester City coach, Pep Guardiola recently revealed the club would not seek to sign a replacement for the winger as they have plenty of options who are capable of playing in that position. 561 new cases of Coronavirus recorded in Nigeria

561 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Nigeria on Tuesday, June 30. According to the Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC, Lagos recorded 200 new cases, Edo -119, Kaduna-52, FCT-52, Niger-32, Ogun-19, Ondo-16 ,Imo-14, Plateau-11, Abia-8, Oyo-8, Bayelsa-7, Katsina-6, Kano-5, Bauchi-3, Osun-3, Kebbi-3, Borno-2, Jigawa-1. Nigeria has now recorded  25,694 cases of COVID-19 with 590 deaths, while 9,746  patients have been discharged from various Isolation centers across the country.

                                  Round 32 of the English Premier league table started on Tuesday with Manchester United recording an impressive 3-0 win over Brighton as they continue their chase for a top four spot. West Ham, Aston Villa, Bournemouth and Norwhich city all lie at the bottom of the table as the race to avoid relegation gets tougher. Liverpool are already the EPL winners while Manchester City, Leicester city and Chelsea make up the top four. See the table below.

                            Barcelona Football star, Lionel Messi netted against Atletico Madrid in the La Liga clash on Tuesday night, June 30, to mark the 700th goal of his professional career barely a week after turning 33. The Argentina captain converted after 50 minutes to put his team 2-1 ahead against Diego Simeone's side.  Atletico's two goals were through penalties scored by Saul Niguez while Barca first scored through a Diego Costa own goal while Messi scored in the second half. Barca are now one point behind Real Madrid in second having played one game more than their rivals. Atletico Madrid are two points clear of Sevilla and remain in third place, 11 points behind Barca.                              A jilted woman, Diane Peebles, 61, from Edinburgh, UK, who spent over £100,000 on her Sri Lankan boyfriend turned husband, now wants her money back after discovering he was married to someone else before he was murdered.     Diane Peebles spent most of her life savings on her former husband Priyanjana De Zoysa, who was 33 years her junior after meeting him on holiday when she was 53 and he was just 20, but says she has been left with "nothing" after he was murdered in his country and she found out he was married to someone else. The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a shoe dealer identified as Ukachukwu Anthony, who specializes in abducting and killing his suppliers in Igbo-Etche, Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State. The Commissioner for Police in the state, Joseph Mukan, who led a team of newsmen to the residence of the suspect, said was arrested through intelligence gathering. He said the suspect confessed to killing his victims and dumping their remains in a septic tank inside his compound. Speaking to newsmen, Anthony who is married with children, said he has so far lured three Togolese and one Nigerian to his compound under the pretext of buying shoes from them. George Floyd: NBA to paint 'black lives matter' on courts ahead of next season

                                The National Basketball Association (NBA), has revealed it has decided to paint 'Black Lives Matter' onto courts at ESPN's Wide World of Sports Complex near Orlando, Florida when the season restarts next month in order to highlight racism issues suffered in the sport and the US. According to the NBA, the league and the players' union have decided on the move and the NBA will use three arenas at the Disney site as 22 of the league's 30 teams conclude the regular season beginning July 30.  The National Basketball Players Association and the league have discussed methods to promote messages of equality and police reform since the death of George Floyd prompted nationwide and worldwide protests. Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery were also killed by White Policemen this year sparking national outrage and protests. Plateau Assembly suspends two council chairmen

Chairmen of Qua’an Pan and Kanam Local Government Areas, Isaac Kwallu and Wakdung Abbas were suspended by the Plateau state assembly on Tuesday June 30.  The two Chairmen who were accused of illegally suspending their councillors and refusing to pay their entitlements, were directed to hand over to their deputies in their respective councils. Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Festus Keyamo, the Minister of State for Labour who was spotted earlier having a shouting match with some lawmakers, has stated that the national assembly members cannot suspend the selection committee of the National Directorate of Employment’s 774,000 recruitment exercise. Keyamo who insisted that only Buhari can suspend the process in a statement released after the rowdy session at the national assembly, alleged that the Joint Committees on Labour of both the Senate and the House tried to “control the programme as to who gets what, where and how”.                              New York City's famous George Washington Monument has been defaced with red paint  by Black Lives Matter protesters as national protests continue over the police killing of black American George Floyd, while the New York City Mayor De Blasio prepares to sign a vote that will remove $1billion from the city's police budget. Mayor Bill Blasio reached an agreement with the city council on Monday that divests $1billion from the police force and cancels the hiring of 1,163 cops drawing criticism from President Trump, while Democrats say the New York Police needs to be stripped of its power and resources, if  systemic racism and excessive use of force is to be combatted. 3-year-old boy kidnapped from church in Anambra state

A 3-year-old boy has been missing for two days now after he was kidnapped from church on Sunday, June 28, 2020. The boy named Chimdindu Gerald Oledibe was kidnapped in a church at Umunze, Orumba South, Anambra state. He was kindapped alongside another child but the other child was later found in Ekwulobia. The family of the missing boy have issued a plea online. They are asking for help to find the missing child. See below.

2 year old girl died after drinking toilet cleaner at home before being found by sister

                                    A two year old girl, Arietta-Grace Barnett, died after she drank toilet cleaner, a very poisonous household product, an inquest into her cause of death heard on Tuesday, June 30. Arietta-Grace Barnett was at home when she ingested the product and was found by her sister. She was then rushed by her sister to Southampton General Hospital. She returned home four days later after receiving treatment but suffered a nose bleed and began vomiting blood six days later then she died after she was rushed to the same hospital again. The sad incident happened in June last year, Portsmouth Coroners Court heard today. Her parents Lucy Cook and Scott Barnett attended the preliminary opening of the inquest according to the Sun UK.
