Four policemen arrested over killing of Rivers musician

Four  policemen have been arrested in connection to the killing of an upcoming musician, Daniel Ikeaguchi a.k.a Sleek.  The musician was killed while fleeing from an anti-kidnapping squad in Elelenwo area of Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital on Monday September 21.  Rivers Police spokesman, Nnamdi Omoni identified the suspected killer policeman as Sgt Isaiah Ben attached to the 35 PMF Jigawa and also revealed that he and others from the anti-kidnapping unit have been transferred to the CID for interrogation.

Video shows the moment Air Force Two with Vice President Mike Pence on board strikes a bird while taking off

Air Force Two with US Vice President, Mike Pence on board was forced into an emergency landing on Tuesday night, September 22.  The plane was forced to return to a New Hampshire airport shortly after taking off for Washington D.C. after striking a bird when it flew into one of the engines.  The incident was caught in a video.  Officials with Manchester-Boston Regional Airport said in a statement: " Air Force 2 experienced a possible bird strike shortly after departure. Flight crew contacted the tower and returned to MHT safely." The vice president and his staff ended up flying to Washington D.C on a cargo aircraft that the Secret Service uses to transport his vehicles during his travel.

NDLEA intercepts truck with 1,500kgs illicit drugs in Zamfara, arrest two persons

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Zamfara State Command, has iintercepted a truck loaded with 1,503.044 kilograms of illicit drugs. The State Commander, Gabriel Adamu, who disclosed this at a press conference in Tsafe town on Wednesday, September 23, said that officers of the command in Tsafe, acting on intelligence reports, intercepted a Mercedes Benz truck with registration number Anambra XY 200 FGG, along Gusau-Zaria expressway. He said the illicit drugs contained in the truck include Cannabis sativa 185kgs, Hypnox 11.5kgs, Diazepam 14kgs, Valinex-5 22.7kgs, Exol-5 310kgs and Codeine syrup 59.844kgs among others. The commander said that two persons were arrested in connection with the seizure, adding that investigation was ongoing before further actions. The commander warned drug merchants to have a change of heart or face justice. He also solicited the assistance of general public to continue providing the agency with useful information.

The police in Anambra state have arrested two brothers, Chigozie Simon 21, and Onywka Simon, 22, for armed robbery. A statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, Haruna Mohammed today September 23, said the suspects who are brothers from the same parents as well as undergraduates at Paul University and UNN, allegedly entered a jewelry shop at Tempsite Awka, tied the sales girl and covered her mouth with cellotape, threatened to stab her in the neck if she screamed and thereafter carted away 33 wristwatches,14 necklaces valued over three hundred thousand naira (#300,000), and a cash sum of thirty-seven thousand Naira(N37,000) ''As the suspect were escaping, the sales girl loosened the tape and raised alarm which led to the arrest of the suspects after a hot chase.'' Mohammed said Mohammed said the suspects voluntarily confessed to the crime and investigation is ongoing after which they would be brought to book.

Just last Monday, September 14, the rapper cited irreconcilable differences in divorce documents. However, while appearing on "The Real" on Tuesday, September 22, he spoke like those differences might actually be reconcilable after all. During his appearance, he was asked why he initially refused the idea of marriage counseling. "I just felt like the counseling was more of a hustle and it wasn't good ... WWE Legend, Road Warrior Animal dies at 60

Joseph Laurinaitis, a former professional wrestler who was known in the ring as Road Warrior Animal, has died at the age of 60. A tweet from the wrestler’s official Twitter account confirmed his death on Wednesday morning and asked for prayers. According to TMZ, the wrestling legend passed away at Tan-Tar-A Resort in Osage Beach, MO. Police were called at around 11:49 PM but when deputies arrived on scene, emergency personnel had already declared the ex-wrestler deceased. The cause of his death wasn't disclosed.  Animal, who is considered one of the best in-ring performers of all-time,  was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2011 after wrestling with the organization for many years.

A woman reportedly chopped off her niece's finger as punishment for an undisclosed offence in Onitsha, Anambra State Details about the incident are still sketchy but the Facebook user who posted the photos on Wednesday, September 23, said that the 'devil woman' hails from Enugu State. "U people should come and see Ekwensu Nwanyi ooooo An onitsha based Enugu state woman cuts off the finger of her niece living with her" he wrote.

A Chinese drug trafficker on death row has escaped from a jail after digging a 30-metre (100 feet) tunnel from his cell in Indonesia. Cai Changpan, sentenced to death in 2017 for trafficking 110 kilogrammes (230 pounds) of methamphetamine, broke out of Tangerang prison in Banten last week via the narrow tunnel, which connected to a sewer, Police said. CCTV footage captured the moment Cai escaped through the narrow tunnel to an unknown location. Authorities said they recovered a crowbar, chisel, screwdriver, and other tools used to dig the hole, which they believe he got from building work being done on a prison kitchen. It was also revealed that the 37-year-old, who also used the name Cai Ji Fan spoke with his other cellmate to join him, but he declined. 'This is the second time he escaped,' said Tangerang police's chief Sugeng Hariyanto, adding he also managed to get out of the National Police Criminal Investigation Department cells in Jaka

India and China agree to stop sending troops to disputed Himalayan border

  China and India have agreed to stop sending military troops to their disputed border in the Himalayas, following an escalation in tensions between the two nuclear powers. Senior military commanders from India and China met on Monday to discuss stabilizing tensions along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), the demarcation line that separates the two military giants. The Line of Actual Control, which marks the de facto border and passes through the lake, was established in the wake of the 1962 Sino-Indian war.  India and China do not agree on its precise location and regularly accuse each other of overstepping it.                       Tensions have been rising in the Himalayas since a bloody clash between Indian and Chinese troops in June and efforts to deescalate in the wake of the violence appeared to be faltering. Man posing as an aide to Assistant Inspector General of Police arrested for defrauding 11 people of over N10m (photo)

35-year-old Nwabueze Izuchukwu, pictured above, has been arrested for allegedly posing as an aide to the Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG in charge of Zone 13 Ukpo, Anambra State, Danmalam Mohammed, and defrauding his victims of over N10 million. According to a statement released by the Public Relations Officer of Zone 13, DSP Nwode Nkeiruka, the suspect, Ichie Izuchukwu Nwabueze, was apprehended while defrauding members of the public of their hard-earned money under the false pretence of raising funds for the furnishing of the residential quarters of the AIG. The statement reads in part: ''In an effort to nip fraudulent tendencies in the bud, operatives attached to Zonal CID Zone 13, Ukpo have arrested one Ichie. Sir Izuchukwu Nwabueze ‘M’ aged 35 of Ukpo Dunukofia L.G.A who has been posing as an aide to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police. At least 25 persons were burnt to death after a petroleum tanker exploded in the Felele area in Kogi state this morning September 23. Those said to have perished in the unfortunate incident include Kogi State Polytechnic students and some Primary School pupils who were on their way to school.
