The Enugu State Police Command has commenced investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of five members of a family who were all found dead in their apartment located in City Estate Layout, Amokpo-Nike near Enugu on Wednesday morning, April 29. A statement from the state police command spokesperson, ASP Daniel Ndukwe, says the sixth member of the family, a boy, was found unconscious and had been rushed to a hospital “The command’s knowledge of the unfortunate development followed a complaint received on April 29 at about 2.00 p.m. at Unity Police Station of a sudden and unnatural death of a family of six at City Estate Layout, Amokpo-Nike, Enugu. The operatives of the station, led by its Divisional Police Officer, SP Siga Malgwi, immediately moved to the location where they saw them lying lifeless in a room. A young native doctor was filmed protesting after he was arrested for stepping out without wearing a face mask amid the COVID-19 pandemic. In the video, the man is seen telling the members of the task force that he's on his way to an important assignment. He was asked why he's not wearing a face mask and he responded that he's a native doctor and Coronavirus is not a threat to him. He said he is not afraid of the virus and can treat patients if they are brought to him. "This is my father's land. This is my father's land oh. Someone will be going on his way and you people will be subjecting him to abuse," he protested as he was led to a canopy to sit. Operatives of the Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), have arrested three Togolese who entered Nigeria illegally.  The suspects identified as Commando Kwasi, Eberivie Isiaq and Kemi Terivie said to be a mother of one, escaped the border patrols from the Republic of Benin and travelled through Saki to Iseyin on Tuesday April 28.  They were arrested at Odo-Omu in Iseyin community of Oyo state, after arriving Nigeria for the new farming season. This is coming after the federal Government of Nigeria announced a total blockade of the country’s borders following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

The Chief Medical Director of Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba, Lagos, Dr Bowale Abimbola, has reportedly tested positive for Coronavirus. SaharaReporters reports Dr Abimbola is presently being treated in one of the wards in the hospital. “Yes, he is positive, that’s why you haven’t seen him in public unlike before. It was even Dr Nifemi Bella Oloniniyi that received honourable members of Lagos State House of Assembly during their visit to our facility. I was told he had a meeting with someone who later showed symptoms of COVID-19, so his samples were immediately taken for test and his results returned positive last week,” a source told SaharaReporters Dr Abimbola was actively involved in managing the Italian man who was the Index case of COVID19 in Lagos state.
